Trip To Malmo, Sweden: The Travel"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Flight<\/h1>\n<p>Flying long distances is never all that fun.\u00a0 Our trip to <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Malm\u00f6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Malmo Sweden<\/a> took us to <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Reykjav\u00edk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Reykjavik Iceland<\/a> on the first leg, and then to <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Copenhagen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Copenhagen Denmark<\/a> on the last leg.\u00a0 Iceland seems like a strange stopover location, but we flew on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.icelandair.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IcelandAir<\/a>, so that&#8217;s their hub.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.leucht.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/01-sweden-travel.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3219\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Orlando,_Florida\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Orlando<\/a> at sunset right after we took off on our trip.\u00a0 It was an overnight flight, which means that everyone is supposed to sleep during the flight.\u00a0 Easier said than done for some people.<\/p>\n<p>We were dead tired when we landed in Iceland.\u00a0 Our layover was supposed to be an hour and a half.\u00a0 But even before our plane left Orlando, we were told that our Iceland to Denmark flight was delayed several hours.\u00a0 When we got to Iceland we were told that storms the previous day caused a backup of an entire&#8217;s day worth of flights and so our flight would get delayed 8 or 9 hours.<\/p>\n<p>Here is what the radar looked like an hour after we landed in Reykjavik Iceland.\u00a0 The storm from the previous day was still on the radar moving to the east.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.leucht.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/02-sweden-travel.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3220\" src=\"http:\/\/www.leucht.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/02-sweden-travel.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"1007\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.leucht.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/02-sweden-travel.png 640w, http:\/\/www.leucht.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/02-sweden-travel-254x400.png 254w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We inquired about what there was to do in\u00a0Reykjavik Iceland, and the only activity that was presented to us was a popular local hot spring called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bluelagoon.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Blue Lagoon<\/a>.\u00a0 It looks pretty neat and really beautiful, but we didn&#8217;t really feel like doing a hot spring with all our luggage and without swim suits.<\/p>\n<p>So after taking long naps on chairs in a quiet corner of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kefairport.is\/english\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Iceland airport<\/a>, we made ourselves comfortable for the day.\u00a0 We found some nice lounge chairs that we could stretch out in and chill.\u00a0 I watched a movie on my iPhone.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.leucht.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/03-sweden-travel.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3221\" src=\"http:\/\/www.leucht.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/03-sweden-travel-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"474\" height=\"632\" 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 474px) 100vw, 474px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And my wife did some &#8220;teacher homework&#8221;.\u00a0 Grading papers or filling out teacher paperwork or something of that nature.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.leucht.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/04-sweden-travel.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" Copenhagen Denmark and arrived there close to 10pm local time rather than our planned noon arrival time.<\/p>\n<h1>Language<\/h1>\n<p>In Denmark they speak Danish and in Sweden they speak Swedish.\u00a0 And I know nothing about either of these languages.\u00a0 Luckily, most locals also speak fluent English.\u00a0 Once they realize that you&#8217;re not from around there.\u00a0 And luckily most signage that we encountered had English subtitles.<\/p>\n<p>But there were a few times that I needed a quick real-time translator.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/us\/app\/google-translate\/id414706506\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Google Translate<\/a> mobile app to the rescue!\u00a0 It&#8217;s an awesome app!\u00a0 It uses augmented reality to show you the translated text over the top of the actual text using your phone&#8217;s live camera feed.<\/p>\n<p>Here is a photo of a sign in Danish that was on the wall in that sign looked like in the Google Translate mobile app.\u00a0 It overlays the translated text over the original text in a similar font and color in order to replace the text in real time within your live camera feed.\u00a0 It&#8217;s really cool.\u00a0 Not perfect, but super cool!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.leucht.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/06-sweden-travel.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3224\" sizes=\"(max-width: 474px) 100vw, 474px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h1>Train<\/h1>\n<p>To get from Copenhagen Airport to Malmo Sweden, we had to buy a train ticket inside the airport and then wait for the train.\u00a0 \u00a0The signs were a little confusing because we needed to go to the Malmo Central train station, but the trains mostly showed their final destination.\u00a0 So we nearly missed our train because Malmo was in very small print on the sign.\u00a0 We noticed it just in time, though.\u00a0 Thankfully.\u00a0 It was cold waiting for the train, and I didn&#8217;t want to sit there for another 20 minutes waiting for the next train!<\/p>\n<p>The train from Copenhagen to Malmo goes both over and under the strait thanks to the awesome\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/\u00d8resund_Bridge\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00d8resund Bridge<\/a>.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a pretty awesome trip, although we couldn&#8217;t see anything when we arrived since it was quite late in the evening.<\/p>\n<h1>Hotel<\/h1>\n<p>It was midnight before we actually got settled into our hotel.\u00a0 Our hotel (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nordicchoicehotels.com\/hotels\/sweden\/malmo\/comfort-hotel-malmo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Comfort Hotel<\/a>) in Malmo Sweden was an interesting combination of classic 19th-century architecture and modern and trendy decor.\u00a0 It was decorated with a rock and roll vibe.\u00a0 Check out the stacks of amplifiers and speakers in the lobby!\u00a0 (This photo was NOT taken at midnight when we arrived after our long trip to Malmo!)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.leucht.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/07-sweden-travel.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3225\" sizes=\"(max-width: 474px) 100vw, 474px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I didn&#8217;t get a picture of it, but our room had a giant mural of lips singing into a giant microphone.\u00a0 It covered one entire wall!\u00a0 Very rock and roll!<\/p>\n<p>Although I didn&#8217;t end up using it during our stay, the gym in the hotel was pretty awesome!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.leucht.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/08-sweden-travel.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3226\" 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 474px) 100vw, 474px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The equipment all looked brand new and the gym even had a boxing ring!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a flight back.\u00a0 When we took off from Iceland on our second and final leg, the sun was just going down.\u00a0 And since we were flying west for about the first half of that flight, it actually took
