{"id":546,"date":"2009-10-28T21:52:30","date_gmt":"2009-10-29T02:52:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.leucht.com\/blog\/?p=546"},"modified":"2022-09-05T19:47:14","modified_gmt":"2022-09-05T23:47:14","slug":"ares-i-x-flight-test-launches-successfully","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.leucht.com\/blog\/2009\/10\/ares-i-x-flight-test-launches-successfully\/","title":{"rendered":"Ares I-X flight test launches successfully!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Unless you&#8217;re living under a rock, you probably heard that NASA launched a new rocket today.\u00a0 Below are some photos from in and around the NASA Press Site and also some video of the launch that I took today.\u00a0 The video also contains some decent manatee footage.\u00a0 There are usually manatees hanging around the turn basin there near the Press Site.<\/p>\n<p>The Ares I is intended to replace the Space Shuttle for launching astronauts into space after it retires in the next year or so.\u00a0 Today&#8217;s launch, dubbed the I-X mission, was an unmanned flight test of this new rocket.\u00a0 Not only was it unmanned, but the whole upper stage was fake and just dropped into the ocean after separation.\u00a0 But we&#8217;re taking baby steps here, people.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t want to bite off more than we can chew.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the video that I took.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Ares I-X flight test rocket launch from KSC press site\" width=\"474\" height=\"356\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/zCh2Ifli4Hc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer;
